Which type of material do you recommend I use on my fence?
There are a few factors to consider:

Does it matter which way the pickets are facing?
Pickets typically face out on any sections that face a street or community area. Sometimes this is a requirement. On sections facing another yard it is typically the option of the owner.
Some styles have the same appearance on both sides. Having the post on your side requires a little more effort to trim & mow around but it also offers more security. This is due to the placement as someone with an inkling to step up to look over the fence will be looking directly at you.
Is the fence built exactly on the property line?
The current standard is to set the fence 1″ – 3″ inside the property line because the most minor encroachment onto someone else’s property can cause problems when either property is being purchased. For that reason it’s extremely important to have all property pins clearly marked before the fence installation begins.
